Linux install on Blade server
Hi,
I am having issues installing Linux RHAS4 (64-bit) on a BL860c class blade. For some reason the vMedia will not pick up the installation disk locally so I have resorted to using a USB connected external cdrom drive. The blade boots into EFI mode but when I type 'map' from the shell I am unable to view any fd devices and therefore cannot progress with the install.
I have used the same procedure for HP-UX and EIF picked up device fd0 without any issues. According to release notes the version of RH I am using is compatible. Someone out there must have installed Linux RHAS4 on blade servers before?
Rgds,
D

Re: Linux install on Blade server
Hello Duffs,
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (v. 4 for 64-bit Intel Itanium):
https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/software/channel/downloads/Download.do?cid=2887
Login & Download Latest RHEL 4 Update 5 iso images, should be workable.
Thanks

Re: Linux install on Blade server
Hi Dufs
You will need at least update 4 in order to get it to install from CD. Earlier versions do not have the correct drivers.
The other option would be to use a kickstart file and deploy it using the standard blade deployment technology.
Regards
Andrew Y

Re: Linux install on Blade server
The Itanium (IA-64) vesion of Linux has been ordered, I am confident that this will install successfully.
Thanks,
