processors missing in Superdome
Hi guys,
I've got two old Superdome servers, one with 4 cells / 32 CPUs and other with 2 cells / 16 CPUs. All the resources are consolidated within 1 nPar on every server.
While I had no problems with first one (32CPUs), second one puzzles me a little bit. Every tool (web, parstatus, etc) shows I've got cells with 8 CPUs each. For example:
[Cell]
CPU Memory Use
OK/ (GB) Core On
Hardware Actual Deconf/ OK/ Cell Next Par
Location Usage Max Deconf Connected To Capable Boot Num
========== ============ ======= ========= =================== ======= ==== ===
cab0,cell0 Active Core 8/0/8 32.0/0.0 cab0,bay1,chassis3 yes yes 0
cab0,cell1 Absent * - - - - - -
cab0,cell2 Active Base 8/0/8 32.0/0.0 cab0,bay0,chassis1 yes yes 0
And I still see only 8 CPUs in HP-UX.
# ioscan -Fnk | grep processor | wc -l
8
Moreover. Each cell has 32G and I'v got all the 64G in my partition.
I've got half the number of CPUs but all the memory. So this may sound like a really stupid question, but what the heck, guys?

Re: processors missing in Superdome
Hi,
I understand from your update , your superdome has dual core processors 4cell/32 CPU and 2Cell/16 CPU
I would like to review the following details/command output:
- Service Processor (MP or GSP): MP>CM>PS
PS command, and select the cell whose processor configuration you wish to view.
2. EFI Shell: info cpu command.
3. nPartition Commands:
— parstatus -C for processor summaries for all cells.
— parstatus -V -c0 for detailed processor information for the specified cell0
— parstatus -V -c1 for detailed processor information for the specified cell0
4. ioscan -C processor (HP-UX only)
Could you please share the above infromation. Apart from that if you find any CPU related error messages in MP logs Please share the same.
HTH,
Surendar

Re: processors missing in Superdome
Hi,
You can capture MP logs by logging in to MP Main Menu.
MP>SL then SEL /FPL
System event Logs and Forward Progress logs.
As updated earlier Please collect the command outputs and update the same.

Sorry, can't boot this one to EFI, but I think the following info would be enough.

you know, I see 8CPUs per cell almost everywhere except HP-UX. That's odd.

Re: processors missing in Superdome
Try the 'machinfo' command...
[edit] You could also try running STM if installed to see what that shows you. If you havent used it before, this is probably the easiest way to view the hardware:
# cstm
.
.
cstm> map
cstm> selall
cstm> info
cstm> wait
cstm> il
-Bob

Re: processors missing in Superdome
Hi ,
I could see the following in provided MP logs and ioscan:
The following MP bus devices were found:
+----+-----+-----------+----------------+
|Cab.| | UGUY | Cells |
| # | MP | CLU | PM |0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 |
+----+-----+-----+-----+----------------+
| 0 | * | * | |* * |
--------
WARNING: PM not found in cabinet 0. Some fields may be invalid!
HW status for Cell 0 in cabinet 0: FAILURE DETECTED
Cell power status: NOT ENABLED
---
# ioscan -C processor
H/W Path Class Description
===================================
0/120 processor Processor
0/122 processor Processor
0/124 processor Processor
0/126 processor Processor
2/120 processor Processor
2/122 processor Processor
2/124 processor Processor
2/126 processor Processor
--
I could see the second core of the CPU is showing in IOSCAN.
Is there any error messages in syslog.
As Robert updated, check the CPU details using STM and update the status,
---
For PM Missing issue we need to log a call with HP.
