RX 4640 RAID controler

Hello

I have an HP rx4640 which is esentially the same as the rx 5670. I have been inform by my vendor that this servers do not support RAID controlers that are configure for internal HDs. It will however support RAID for external HDs. Supposibly he got this info from HP. Could this possibly be correct? I need to make a decision soon, any help will be appreciated.
