rx2600 serial console and management processor
hello all
I like to have a "normal" serial console.
stick a terminal to connector "console" from the MP card.
(25pol to three 9pol cable)
I like to see all output from boot and like to
login, if the system is up and running with
HP-UX 11.23
second I like to connect a modem to the
"remote" labeled connector.
a user must be able to log in via this modem.
have read the documentation, but its not clear to me how to set this up.
the only thing that I can see on the MP console
is this:
(Use Ctrl-B to return to MP main menu.)
- - - - - - - - - - Prior Console Output - - - - - - - - - -
loading section 1
........... (complete)
loading symbol table
loading System Directory(boot.sys) to MFS
....
Loading MFSFILES directory (bootfs) to MFS
...........
Launching /stand/vmunix
SIZE: Text:22623K + Data:5457K + BSS:3802K = Total:31882K
- - - - - - - - - - - - Live Console - - - - - - - - - - - -
no more, hit return, nothing comes.
modem still not operating.
any help are welcome.

Re: rx2600 serial console and management processor
Check your output configuration in the Boot/maintenance menu. It seems like the output is sent to any other device.
Options are: UART Serial, MP Console or VGA display. By default the output is sent to console but check it anyway and select your output accordingly, in that menu... Regards, Mario.

Re: rx2600 serial console and management processor
Joerg,
Mario is right, you need to specify output device in Boot Maintenance. For the rx2600 you can have only ONE concole device for the boot messages etc, by default this is MP.
So you need to specify serial console and *only* this (pick one of the lines "..UART 9600 N81...")
Regards,
Bernhard
