rx8640 Console Hangs

I have an rx8640 with two partitions.
From MP when I try to connect to the console of one partition after I type CO, Ctrl+E cf and then everything hangs.
The console worked yesterday, then it started to display text abnormaly.

I mention that the console of the other partiion is working fine.
On the two partitions is installed HP-UX 11iv3

You could try to refresh by ctrl l or reset the MP with xd R [ restart MP ]

Can you explain that?


However, if you let's say connect with a HP terminal emulator first and later with something different like xterm or vt100 and continue the session, you will see a strange output because of this.

The console may also display nothing useful, if an application is using the console, e.g. waiting for an input.

Consider to refresh the screen and check if "something" is using the console.

Ctrl l is not working.
Only Ctrl C is workig (it brings me to the next line).

Also I mention that the LAN is not configured yet at OS level. So the only way to configure the machine is using the console (CO) from MP.

Log out and back in to OS console. This should adjust the emulation settings.

I have already tried to log out and log back in. This is not working.
Any ideea ? This seems to be a small problem but I can't configure my server.

Only time I've ever seen this is when the partition was down. Can you telnet into the same partition? Run parstatus?

No, I can't telnet directly to that partition becouse the lan is not configured on the OS on that partition.
Now I am thinking about reboot and reistall the SO on IT, but how should reoot the SO on it if I can't enter the console?
The reset of it will help me?

I telnet using putty to MP, then selectin CO I try to connect to console of the partitions. On the OS on that partition is set the VT100.

If this is a brand new installation without network access with hung console, consider to reset that nPar, connect to console and see what happens.

This is the partion guide, 'CM', 'TC', 'RR' or 'RS'.

Reset A reset resets the nPartition immediately. in the nPartition are reset. On HP Integrity systems all cells are reset.
You can reset an nPartition using the REBOOT command from the BCH interface, the reset
command from the EFI Shell, or the RS command from the service processor Command
menu.

I discovered that one of the two cells that form my partition is in BIB state. I tried to boot the partition with BO but it didn't work. The cell that remain in BIB is configured to randezvous at next boot. It is something strange here. I am thinking to put the both cells in BIB and then to boot the partition again.

This command resets the selected partition.

Then this is a partition that you have never, ever booted, for BIB is deliberately set to make a partition 'inactive'.

The partition is now waiting at the BIB state, and for you to clear the flag before proceeding with the boot up. To clear the BIB
select "y" to use on "use-on-next-boot".

From the EFI shell use 'cellconfig' command to set the use-on-next-boot parameter and unflag the BIB
