As per my knowledge firmware can not possible roll back.
If your facing any problem upgrades time then you try to previous version firmware.

If you do it on your own and you get problems, you should contact HP support before trying something else on your own.

Torsten how do you learn if you get people in to do what are easy job's. i just need to make sure the rol back is the same as we would do for a DL server.
we do 90% of our own work and only get HP involved when we get stuck

I don't know what your current version is, but I know updating a rx8640 is different to a "PC" like a DL server ...
If you do the update, you need to read the instructions first and follow them strictly, including the notes.
Doing a wrong step may kill your system.

just to let you know the upgradwe went to the numbers, no isues.
as long as you follow the readme file.
also wasn't being ratty, i took your advice onboard, i am just in the opinion that things like this should be manged in house.
