0080-51: Netserver Management Controller Selftest Failure

Hi All,

0080-51: Netserver Management Controller Selftest Failure.

0090-64: DIMM Management Failure

Out of the blue our Redhat 7.1 Netserver lp1000r is giving us these error messages on boot. We have disconnected power and rebooted and it still fails at boot. Is this a system board failure or is the management chip located on a riser card?

Regards,

hi
be sure when you perform a reset managment to disconnect all the cable, a Lan conection or a serial (modem -UPS,.. ) could take a pull-up on the +5Volts line and not let you reset the memory.

if thid didn'twork, try to flash the bios (if you could)

otherwise, you need to replace the server (this is an exchange, no parts availables)

bye

Dale,

How long did you keep the power cord unplugged? 2-3 minutes should clear the errors. Upgrade the BIOS to prevent them from reoccuring. The latest revisions are 4.06.15 RO for LP1000r with 1.13/1.26/1.40 GHz processors or 4.06.31 RA for older. Reflash the BIOS even if you are at the current version - it may contain newer MMC firmware.

Get the BIOS from here:

Are you sure this isn't an Lpr? If so follow these instructions.

Download the attached file. Run the exe to create the diskette (requires 1 floppy). Open the readme.txt and read the instructions. Unplug the server for 5 minutes. place floppy diskette into the server. Boot off diskette. Enter command at C prompt. After flash completes, update to the latest BIOS from here:
