120GB IDE HD for Netserver E60

What is the max size of HD we can put in a HP NetServer E60? Is possible to install a 120GB in?

Thanks

Charles,

IDE hdds were never supported in the E60. I would only recommend SCSI hdds. I know people have tried IDE hdds in the netserver with very mixed results.

If it's got IDE connectors - I suppose you can... I am not sure though if BIOS can support this sized HDD.. Worse thing that could happen is you will only be operating at UDMA/66 and less than the 120GB capacity.. If it is a fairly new boxen (ie. ca 2001 upwards, then chances are it could support up to 137 GB HDDs...)

Hi,

We have just posed a similar question to HP re a Netserver e60 we have.

It has two 9Gb scsi drives and we would dearly love to breathe new life into this system by replaceing the HDD with one or more larger drives.

How did you get on? did you manage to get larger IDE or SCSI drives working ok.

Many Thanks

Re: 120GB IDE HD for Netserver E60

Currently we have supplied customers with up to 181GB SCSI drives for their E60 and other Netserver. Also we have provided upgrades including SATA IDE drives and controllers to go beyond the limitations of the onboard SCSI and IDE controllers of the E60.
None of this effects your HP warranty, only HP will not deal with the subsystem if called on for service.
