Adding SCSI drive?

Hi. I want to really add an IDE HD to my netserver e60. However, if I can't I want to know about the SCSI drives.

What is the largest drive I can add? Do I need any BIOS updates? and do I need to some kind of shelf or does it just plug in?

Thanks for helping me out.....im new to the whole server experience and im trying to learn it.

Re: Adding SCSI drive?

Adding either an IDE drive or a SCSI drive isn't difficult. Firstly, which operating system is running your E60? What kinda drive(s) is installed now? Couple of preliminary tips: if you'd like to use an IDE drive, and you already have an IDE device connected to the controller, you'll have to configure the 2nd device on the IDE channel (there may be up to 2 channels, depending on the controller) as a slave. If you'd like to use a SCSI drive, you'll need a SCSI adapter (I recommend Adaptec) if you don't already have one, and you'll have to configure the SCSI ID on the drive (each SCSI ID must be unique, so that the controller knows which device to address on the bus). SCSI drives are huge these days, 100 GB or more. How much storage do you need?

HTH.
