Boot device option ! Netserver !

I have a netserver LD PRO

I recently add a NetRaid card and configure my 3 Hard-drive in Raid 5 ! (works fine)

When the system wan't to start I get :

"A disk read error occured
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart"

error & the Floppy light is ON so I assume the system doesnt find any HD cuz it need to search on the netraid card to boot! (like I said I assumed)

SO How do I set the boot device so it can start on the netraid ?

I found an option called
Boot device option in the "bios" !

I can set a Boot target ID or a Boot Lun number ??
Since I'm new with netraid that is Chinese for me !

Can someone help please !

Re: Boot device option ! Netserver !

Hi,

Boot through the HP Navigator CD. Select the option for installing the Operating System. Install the OS on the disk ( on the netraid ) and the system will automatically boot from those drives during restart.

Re: Boot device option ! Netserver !

j-phillipe,

Your server will boot automatically to the NetRaid if there isn't a bootable diskette or CD inserted. If your floppy light is on steady try to disconnect the floppy cable from the system board and reboot. You may have a bad floppy or floppy cable. You may also try to clear CMOS by turning switch 4 config valid off, clear the config and then boot to the navigator CD to save your ECU. (Make sure you can boot to either a floppy or CD-rom before clearing CMOS though because you'll need to boot to an ECU diskette or Navigator CD to enter the Eisa Config Utility after clearing CMOS.)

Ciao,

Re: Boot device option ! Netserver !

Remember to check whether the BIOS of the Netraid is enabled:
Boot the server and press Ctrl-M during Netraid scan.
In the first screen you can see an option at the bottom: Enable BIOS or Disable BIOS.
If the option is: Enable BIOS then your BIOS is disabled and you can enable it by changing this value.
If it says: Disable BIOS, then your BIOS is currently enabled and you don't have to change it.

Did you create and initialize any logical drives?

Marco.
