Re: DDS4 TapeDrive
What LC2000 model do you have? It can have an integrated U2 or U3 symbios controller. Also what BSOD are you getting? Finally if you are able to boot to the OS without the tape drive you can install the HP driver for the SCSI controller without the tape drive cabled to the server. Also have you tried both SCSI A and SCSI B on the system board?
Make sure that you have the HP driver loaded for the correct SCSI Controller which you can download here:

Re: DDS4 TapeDrive
if Greg's suggestion will not work then try installing addon HP recommended HBA http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg50063.html
It will surely help

Re: DDS4 TapeDrive
tried both channels.
tried installing drivers with drive not attached.
neither work.
server is a U3
bsod is a scsiport.sys always.
will try updating drivers as suggested.
cheers

SolutionWhen running any backup software such as Arcserve (or Backup Exec, Tapeware, etc) in 2000, you want to disable RSM.
