Dead LD Pro Server
Unit powers up, but, will not POST.
It doesn't make a difference what is in the unit, ram/drives/etc.
Lights on the CPU board flash no matter if the ram is in or out (0+1 then 2+3 alternating as soon as the power comes on)
the flash code means the ram is no good, so i tried different ram to
no avail....
I have re-seated the cpu board, pulled the network card out, tried a
separate vid card.....
verified the PS connections on the mainboard, I verified the jumpers and
switches as well, tried clearing the CMOS per HP's website......
no matter what I do, there is no video signal because the server isnt
completing the POST test.
This is everything I know how to try with this unit
Any ideas?

Re: Dead LD Pro Server
Al,
Do you get a beep code if there is no memory in the server? Have you pulled keyboard and mouse along with all pci/eisa cards from the server? Make sure that you clear the CMOS during the TS as well. On the LD pro if memory serves the config valid is switch 3.
If none of this changes and you have no beep code you are looking most likely at a bad cpu, system board, vrm or power supply.
Ciao,
Greg

Re: Dead LD Pro Server
I can't think of any easy way to verify the VRM other than by swapping it with another. If you have no change with a different CPU or power supply the system board or VRM would be the likely culprit. Just make sure that the specs of your power supply match what is on the casing of the LD Pro power supply..
Good luck!
Greg
btw -->you can find these replacement parts at http://www.pmount.com and on ebay as well.
