Disk Error (Event ID 7) Problem w/ tc2120

Is there anyone who encountered problem with "HP server tc2120" on disk error?
My server is still BRAND NEW!!!

My current system is "Windows 2000 server sp4"
I patch all the updates from "Windows Update" except for "Journal Viewer" and ".NET Framework" (as of Nov.5,2003)

There is the System Event log:

Source: Disk
Category: None
Type: Error
Event ID: 7
Description:
The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

This error seems to start appairing after installing some updates. However, because I did not archive the old files, I have only option to re-install the system all over again...

Re: Disk Error (Event ID 7) Problem w/ tc2120

Hi Ryo,

First thing: is your hard drive SCSI or IDE? If it is an IDE drive, try to run Chkdsk /r from the command prompt of a DOS boot floppy.

If it is a SCSI drive, try to do a verify media from the SCSI Disk Utilities (usually ctrl-a from startup).

You can also try rolling back to SP3 as SP4 has not been fully tested by HP and can't guarantee funtionality.

Hope this is helpful,
Sean

Re: Disk Error (Event ID 7) Problem w/ tc2120

This is the recommendation from Microsoft for this Windows 2000 event error:
"From the command prompt, run the Chkdsk utility with the /r option on the named partition. If Chkdsk reports no errors but you continue to receive this message, run hardware diagnostics on the disk drive named in the message and on its controller."
With the tc2120, this would mean running the VERIFY as Sean suggested. Run the HP diagnostics as well, if necessary download DiagTools from here:

Need to determine if this is a software or hardware problem.
