Front Panel LCD Control

Greetings to all!

I have the following machine setup at home:
HP Netserver LS2 Dual Pentium 100
230mb RAM (two Mem cards)
3x4gb RAID 5 RAID
2x4gb RAID 0 RAID

Windows 2000 on the RAID 0 array. Raid is a Netraid reflashed to the AMI Megaraid BIOS, v1.61 (1.66 freezes the machine at bootup). Raid works just fine.

I usually don't have the monitor turned on on this machine. There is the LCD Panel, which reports the number of processors and System READY (Default under the ECU Util).

I would like to know if there is any software or programs I can get to run under Windows 2000 that would allow me to CONTROL what the 2x16 Charactor front panel display says.
The BIOS can do it, so why not any program out there?

Thanks,
Keven Tipping

Re: Front Panel LCD Control

Hello Keven,

Here is the way how to do it:

1. Boot to the HP Navigator CD

2. Run ???EISA Configuration Utility???

3. Choose ???View or Edit Details???

4. Page down to the ???LCD Subsystem Group???

5. ???LCD Display String Enabled or Disabled??? should be set to Enabled.

6. Select the ???LCD Display String Before OS Boot??? option and press ENTER.

7. Type in the information you want to display.

=====================
NOTE:
Each line displays up to 16 characters. If exceeding 16 characters on the first line, the text will wrap around to the second line. If the first line contains less than 16 characters, it is required to enter spaces for the remaining positions to display additional information on the second line. To enter information for the second line, do not press ENTER. Continue typing on the same line.
=====================

8. Press ENTER when finished, then F10 to exit ???View or Edit Details???.

9. Select ???Save and Exit??? from the steps in ???Configuring Your Computer??? menu.
