Ghost image

Hi all...
I was intending to create a ghost image of pre-configured Win2k server using ghost multicast program. For this, i need to make a bootable multicast disk. I had a hard time finding HP Netserver 10/100TX NIC Driver .dos file. The driver in the Win2k server is in .sys file. Anyone knows where to download this? Or is there another way to backup the Win2k server image?

Re: Ghost image

Jamie,

HP Netservers are now recommended to use the Intel proset driver. It is located here on the HP website:

http://h20004.www2.hp.com/soar_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix51734en_US.html

This will have all of the files for the proset driver along with the download for the proset utility.

Re: Ghost image

Hi Greg,

Thanx for your prompt reply. I tried it but still can't connect to multicast program.
It says protocol fails.
I successfully make the bootable multicast disk. When i boot the HP netserver with this diskette, it can't log on to that multicast server housed at another pc. It says protocol fails.

Re: Ghost image

Jamie,

I've never set up Ghost before.. Are you looking for a DOS driver or a .dos file? There is a DOS driver on the link that I posted previously also.

What server are you setting up the ghost on?

Thanks,
Greg

Re: Ghost image

Hi all,

For all of you who don't like to change protocol.ini and other files to get a running ms-dos boot disk with different nic cards and need access to shares (where we put ghost.exe on and save all the ghost files) use the following great boot disk from bart:

http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/network/

its free and he supports over 100 different nic's. Actually also the new Netxtreme which are build in in the G2 Generation of proliant servers.

The onliest problem with this boot disk is that we could not write more then 2 GB on the NTFS Share, but you can exchange msdos.sys io.sys and command.com from a msdos version above 7.10.

I sent it to bart and he will check it and will write this condition in his faq.

Re: Ghost image

Hi Greg,

Yes, I'm looking for a .dos file. The dos driver u provide on that link still output error when i try to connect the client (win2k server) to the host.
I'm setting up my server on Win2k server.

Thanks,
Jamie

Re: Ghost image

Hi Dani,

I have tried the link as shown below:

http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/network/

It still can't work.

Let's make it as simple as possible. My problem is as below:
Currently, I have a Win2k server running on HP NetServer LC2000. The hard disk are SCSI. I was intending to make a backup image of it so that in case the SCSI is down, I can use ghost to clone back the Win2k image with all the configurations. Here, my problem arises. So how do i make a ghost image out of a SCSI hard disk? Izit the same as what we do for normal hard disk?
