HP LH3 Server

I currently have Netware 5.x I'm migrating to w2k by just copying files to another LH3 server w/ w2k. One reason is the Novell is just running extremely slow. when copying files they copy at approx 3meg/min. I think it is the HP nic card using HPTX.LAN drivers. does anyone know. Thanks

Re: HP LH3 Server

hi
whem the lh3 family server run extremely slow, the cause may be due to the managment chip, to solve you need to perform a reset managment:
-shutdown the server,
-disconnect power cable
-disconnect lan cable
-disconnect all periferical connected to the server(modem, ups, printer, tape)
-let the server disconnect form any device for two minuts
-reconnect all and restart
then check if it is running well

bye

i tried "pulling the chord" but still slow. fyi i have 2 servers doing the same thing. they are identical. also each server has 2 nic cards hp d5013c only one card is active and plugged to network?

Re: HP LH3 Server

When the servers boot, do you see errors 0080 and 0090 on post?

Re: HP LH3 Server

Post is when the server boots. It's where the memory count and other checks are performed right after powering on the server. Post is considered the period of time from when you power on the Server to when the Operating system begins to load. Usually is black background with white text. Watch the whole thing.

Re: HP LH3 Server

another observation-

if i copy a large folder (large in number of files) it is slower that opening the folder and copying with individual subfolders.

Re: HP LH3 Server

Are you using the latest drivers from the web page? How up to date are you on BIOS and firmware? Are you running the latest patches within Netware?

Re: HP LH3 Server

that helped updating my firmware. but is is still unbarable it went from 3m per min to 6m per min. i am running sp3 on netware. unless they state specifically that the new patches help i did not want to update just to migrate to w2k.

any more help is greatly appreciated
