LC3 CPU upgrade problem
I have purchased an LC3 upgrade kit (D8583a) in order to make a recently upgraded LC3 into a 2 CPU system. At first it would not recognize the new CPU, then we reflashed the BIOS and we kept getting CPU microcode missing errors. Running advanced diagnostics showed that the CPUs were not matched. The part number and HP numbers were the same but when we looked at the Intel markings on the CPUs they were quite different. The working CPU was marked 550/512/100/2.0V while the other was 600EB/256/133/1.65V. These were both boxed CPU upgrades from HP with the same part number (D8583A). Did I get a bad CPU or will these two work together and I have other problems - Help?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: LC3 CPU upgrade problem
Those won't work right! 550/512/100/2.0V while the other was 600EB/256/133/1.65V
The first number is CPU speed...different speed, the second number is cache size, no that important to function, third number is front-side bus speed....need to be the same and the last number is voltage....
I would contact HP about this.

Re: LC3 CPU upgrade problem
I emailed HP about it and the agreed that these will not work together and the new one must have been mislabelled. They are shipping me a replacement overnight!
