LC3 SATA Controller HD capacity
While everyone says that the maximum HD capacity is 18GB for HP SCSI drives. I would like to install Windows 2003 and Exchange but 18GB is not going to do me any good.
I just went out and purchased a SATA controller. Startech PCISATA2P4, while it is 64-bit the instructions say i could use it on 32-bit PCI slot. When first setting up I was able to install drivers and run 2003 install. Everything went fine except when windows got to 16 minutes left in finalizing installation. IS there something I am missing.
I have tried to disable the original SCSI controller snce I don't need that. I have tried many different settings in BIOS as well. I have spare RAM chips from HP and have thought it might be a RAM issue and have tried several different RAM chips. I can get windows 2003 to format and see the SATA HD, and then format and install setup files, but it always hangs with 16-20 minutes left. ANyway to do this?

Re: LC3 SATA Controller HD capacity
Depending on your situation, we can provide a 73GB SCSI drive for your LC3 or a 300GB (if you replace all the drives, that is you are using no legacy drives in the system).
As for the WIndows install, when the install hangs, it is usually a setup problem. Check the Microsoft Support site. I know they talk about the issue. It is usually a loading system level driver issue. Probably because the LC3 is so old. But we have XP loaded on our test LC3 with no problems, so Server 2003 should be similar in drive base.
