Hi all,
BTW great forum, so far it been a real help. I am trying to upgrade my LH Pro from a single CPU to dual CPU's. I've downloaded the manuals and can't seem to find anything that talks about the jumper settings on the CPU card or the steps to upgrade the processor. So I have the following questions:
1. The processor that is currently in the system is a 200mhz pro with 256k cache, the one I bought is a 200mhz pro with 512k cache. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they can't be used together right?
If they can be used together is there anything special I need to know?
2. Since I have the heatsink and the VRM for two processors can I just buy a pentium pro CPU with the same cache and step and use it? or did HP get intel to make some "special" modifications?
3. Are the VRM's the same for both processors or did HP make a different VRM for each processor.
4. Is there a manual, documentation, faq etc that will guide me in upgrading the processor and or discusses the jumper settings for the CPU card. Since I have the 512K cache version I want to go ahead and install it and then just buy another 512K processor as the second.
Any help, information etc would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Gordon,
1. The CPU cache speeds can be matched.. although hp recommends having matching cache sizes. Refer to this link http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=aeOQ9.527512%24%25m4.149815%40rwcrnsc52.ops.asp.att.net&rnum=2&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26q%3Dmixing%2Bprocessor%2Bcache
2. The CPU's are OEM'd from intel and you may have stepping issues or missing micro-code issues as the BIOS is coded for certain stepping levels. Just make sure you are at the latest bios. You can get it here: http://h20004.www2.hp.com/soar_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix50454en_US.html
3. The VRM's should be ok for Either CPU.
4. There are no jumper settings on the system board for the different cache sizes. Jumper J18 is for processor board. (although I don't know what that jumper is for.. I'll have to dig for that..) The jumpers on the system board have to do with: FDD, Mouse, Parallel, SCSI A, Video ->J3 to disable onboard video if you need to upgrade video)ect...
