LH Pro Upgrading Memory
Hi - Trying to upgrade memory from 4x64mg to 4x256mg. Replaced all 4 DIMMS at once, could not boot to ECU CD or Netraid - error message on Netraid 'not enough memory to load bios'. Am able to boot to ECU floppy, save config, but still not boot to Netraid HD or get rid of message. Have read on these forums LH memory needs to be added one at a time. Does that mean:
1) Install one 256mg keep the other three in, reboot, save config, add another 256, reboot, etc..
or
2) Remove all four existing 64mg, add one 256mg, reboot, save config, add another 256mg, reboot, etc...
thank you

Re: LH Pro Upgrading Memory
What is the part number and specs of the memory you are trying to add? The specs on the LH Pro calls for 256MB UNBUFFERED EDO ECC 60ns
For the memory rules to be added one at a time means that you don't need to add them in more than one at a time.. Try booting the server with a single 256 mb dimm with nothing else. If still have the error try another 256 by itself. If you have the same error with more than one 256 mb dimm you probably have incompatible memory. If you only have the error with one dimm then you probably have a bad dimm.
If you are able to boot successfully w/ one or more of the 256 mb dimms then boot to the ECU to save and exit to update your config.
Ciao,
Greg

Re: LH Pro Upgrading Memory
Have not tried just one bank yet, thought I'd ask here to save time, dimms are
silicon mountain - 256MB SMHP12968/256 168 Pin ECC EDO DIMM - 'should' be ok. Is a production machine, I wil post back when I have time to shut it down again. thank you Greg.

Re: LH Pro Upgrading Memory
Hi - Follow up, I had an identical LH Pro I took out of production, removed all old DIMMS and replaced with 4 X 256mg. Worked fine when adding one at a time or all at once. Did not get the 'not enough memory to load bios' during the Netraid init, as in the other LH Pro.
