Re: lh3 netserver

Hi Ray,

The Max processor you can upgrade to is
2 x 600 MHz Pentium III / 512kb Cache

This server has 4 memory slots and the MAX supported in eaach slot is 256 MB so you can have
4 x 256MB REGISTERED 100Mhz ECC SDRAM DIMM (which will be 1GB Memory)

The part# for the processor is D9342A and the part# for the memory will be D6099A

Windows 2000 server and Advanced server are supported in this server

Re: lh3 netserver

All excellent information from Amhakassa.

Most common RAID is a RAID 5 (for all 6 drives). For added protection you may want to consider 2 x 72 GB in a RAID 1 (mirror), then 4 x 72 GB for your data.

I'm assuming you do not have the optional 2nd hot swap drive cage, which means all six drives must go in the one drive cage.

I am also assuming server has the default two power supplies (in one power supply cage, can have up to 2 PS cages = total 4 PS possible). With six 72 GB drives I would consider adding the 3rd power supply - this does require the purchase of the 2nd power supply cage AND will add a power cord (total of 2) for the server. Note that just 2 power supplies does not provide redundancy - 2 are required to power the server.

Make sure the following are current, update if necessary before installing your OS:

- System BIOS
- integrated NetRAID FW
- HS Backplane FW

Updates (and the HP drivers for the supported OS's) are here:

The LH3 was one of the best and most durable NetServer models made, hope you will be happy with it.
