LH3 Reboot Issue...

To Those Offering Potential Assistance:

Because I have yet to pinpoint the cause of a significant memory leak on our LH3, running W2K AS, I am rebooting the server at night when available RAM reaches an intolerably low level.

Upon reboot, I receive the following error messages:

1. During shutdown portion of the sequence, A BSOD stating:

STOP : 0x0000007F(0x0000008 0x0000008 0x0000008 0x0000008 0x0000008 0x0000008 0x000000 0x000000 0x000000) UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

Followed by a dump of the physical memory.

2. During start-up portion of the sequence, after a message stating:

"Initializing Intel Boot Agent V2.2"

The following error message is displayed:

0012-34 Incorrect System Configuration

A request for detail yields the following:

Hewlett Packard System Hardware Test (2.0) - View System Errors

Error Message 1 of 1: Error Code 0012

"The PC Configuration has been cleared or has not been initialized. Run the Setup program to reconfigure your PC."

My hope is that someone will be able to point me in the right direction of finally resolving this situation. While I have some IT skills, I am far from being an expert, especially in this arena.

Thank you in advance to those of you whom may offer any potential assistance. It is certainly appreciated.

Re: LH3 Reboot Issue...

hi
--first chek in the system event log (SEL) if there is any error messages from hardware (you have 512 location, if you reach the 512, then the event log is full and you need to clear it in order to record events
--if there is no error in the SEL, try to perform a clear cmos, this will reinitialize the plug and play components in the bios, this can be the cause of the error
--you can also perform a reset managment, to perform this, you need to disconnect all the cables from netserver(power, lan, serial, parallel..) let server disconnect for few minuts then restart all.
--be aslo sure to have last bios version, or update it

Re: LH3 Reboot Issue...

First of all you need to enter the F2 BIOS and save and exit to remove the incorrect config error.

Re: LH3 Reboot Issue...

Matt,

Do you have netserver agents installed in this server? If you go to Start->Programs is NetServer Agents an option? If so there is a read me which will tell what version you are running.

Also does this happen on a shutdown or only on restart? If you interrupt the memory dump and power off the server will you still reset the BIOS?

Also it would help us out if you could post the HEL report and your configuration report from instant top tools.

You can load it from here if you don't already have it installed--> It doesn't require a reboot or install any agents. http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix70272.html

Re: LH3 Reboot Issue...

Matt,

Also try booting into F2, Go to Configuration and Memory Caching and set Memory Caching to NO and see if there is any change. Also try to turn all caching off on your netraid controller. Boot into Ctrl-M and set your Write Policy to WrThru and your cache policy to direct i/o and see if there is any change.

Ciao,
