multiprocesor lh 6000

Is it possible to upgrade from 4 to 5 cpu's in a lh6000?
I always assumed upgrades had to be done in pairs, now I'm not so sure. I cannot find any documentation on this subject.

Hi,

I've checked the documentation and there is no reference to having to add CPU's in pairs. I've never heard of this restriction, at least not on Netservers. My answer would be yes, you should be able to add the fifth processor without issue.

Dukkie,

The netserver comes default with a single CPU. You can add them individually to a full config 1x1. Memory is the only thing with rules of being added in pairs on the LH6000.

Re: multiprocesor lh 6000

Hi Dukkie,

In support of both Mark and Greg, yes, you can upgrade from 4 to 5 CPU's in an LH6000. Just make sure that you have a terminator board in the 6th slot and the additional VRM in the correct socket. Make sure you look at the VRM sockets because they are not numbered sequentially. VRM#5 goes in the middle slot on the right-hand side. They are numbered from the top down: 3, 2, 4 on the left & 6, 5, 1 on the right.
