Mylex DAC960PL RAID Controller

I have a Mylex DAC960PL RAID controller. When i boot up my computer it says that i have to run the HPDA utility. I tried pressing all the keys that normally open a BIOS but none of them worked. Is this something that has to be run from the OS. If so i can run it from DOS or FreeBSD so if anyone knows how to do this please tell me. If you could give me the exact syntax of the certain command that would be great (i am a little new to this stuff)Thanks a lot.

Re: Mylex DAC960PL RAID Controller

Do you have the HP part number of the Mylex controller? If it's one of the old mylex controllers compatible with old HP netservers (such as the HP NetServer LX), you need to run a config from a bootable floppy.

I was unable to find any HP utilities using that Mylex model number.

Have you tried www.mylex.com? They do list that mylex controller among their "legacy" mylex products on this page (LSI bought out mylex, I think):
http://www.lsilogic.com/products/stor_prod/raid/mylex_tech_support.html

And, it does look like you need a separate utility to configure the controller.

If that is an HP controller, I don't think HP would support the use of the mylex utility (HP's version of the card may be slightly different).

Here's a better link to the Mylex DAC 960PL:

Hope this helps,

Re: Mylex DAC960PL RAID Controller

On http://h20004.www2.hp.com/soar_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix62431en_US.html you can download the HP Disk Array software.

There's no BIOS on the Mylex card you can ENter, just run the software from a bootable MS-DOs floppy and configure the array.

Good luck,

You only need to run the Mylex utility if you want the raid drives to be under hardware control as oppose to software control. This is not DOS controlled.
