can someone help with the following:
I've installed an HP NetRAID-1M in my LC 2000 server and I'm struggling configuring the raid controller. basically, I can't see the disk drives when entering the setup. Is there a way to bypass the existing Symbios PCI SCSI Bios and to enable the new controller ... I'm stuck!
I've been trying to use an old CD Navigator to configure the disk array but without any success.
I've upgrated the BIOS to 4.06.30 PV and Netserver Mgmnt Controller Firmware to F.10.38
Any input is greatly appreciated!

Solution
Hi Ioan,
First off, let me start by telling you that you are free to call Netserver Support at 1-800-474-6836 and say "Netserver" at the prompt. The support is free and they can walk you through all the troubleshooting steps.
That being said, there are a few things you want to do; especially if you've just updated the CMOS. First, clear your CMOS config using dip switch 5 on the motherboard. You have to power up with the switch on then power down and put the switch back. Then go into the bios and load setup defaults (F9).
Now, when you start the server, it should show the Symbios controller banner and theC prompt to enter the config utility. Don't choose this one. Wait until it says "Experienced users can press ctrl-M to enter the Express Tools utility."
Do that; pressM. Then you should be able to see the drives under "Objects-->Physical Drive".
To create a new array, you need to start at the Management Menu and select "Configure-->New Configuration". This is where it comes in handy to have a support rep on the phone with you so that you don't miss any steps. Creating the new array involves selecting the drives you want, setting your logical drive properties, saving config, and finally initializing the logical drive.
After that comes the fun part: installing the O/S. You want to make sure that you have NetRAID Controller drivers on diskette when you go to install your O/S.
A word of advice: if you're planning on installing NT4, use the startup floppy diskettes. If you just try to boot from the CD you will not be able to specify the mass storage drivers from the driver disk. You'll think you are but when it comes time to create your partition, it won't find any drives because it's not loading the RAID drivers.
Hope this helps.
