NETRAID 1M + Linux Red Hat 7.1 US
Hi all,
Could someone help me, i'd like to configure Linux on a :
Lc2000 / 2 CPU 1GB / 6 X 18 Gb HDD / Netraid 1M
1GB Memory
After upgrading all the element to the latest firmware and bios, i try to install Linux on this machine. I Configure a Raid Level 5, stripe size 64 k, initialize it. After that i'm beginning the installation of Linux by booting from the cd-rom, it runs ok, the installation step is ok and at the end the setup hangs, i try to configure in a different maneer the raid level and nothing works. I try to connect a hard disk in SCSI mode and install the NOS and it works correctly, then the problem come from the Raid Controler, then can you help me to solve this problem !
Many Thank's

Re: NETRAID 1M + Linux Red Hat 7.1 US
Hi,
I had similar problems with Netraid 1M, could not get it running. Then I installed a Netraid 3si and everything went fine. I used Suse 7.2 and 7.3 but that should not matter.
Even if Netraid 1M and 3si seem to work with the megaraid device driver - on NT there is only one driver for these two controllers - there seem to be problems with the 1M and Linux.
Sorry, but if you get it up and running let me know !
Regards, Oliver

Re: NETRAID 1M + Linux Red Hat 7.1 US
Hrm, that's odd.. I've never had a problem with that sort of setup (only using 9gig disks however, having used primarily RH7.1 and RH7.2.
If you watch the installation screens (ALT-F2/3/4/5), what does it say it's doing when it freezes up?
I have had problems with the badblocking processes on LC2000's before, but not recently.

One long-haired git at your service...

Re: NETRAID 1M + Linux Red Hat 7.1 US
Hi,
I'm going to reply to my answer, when you install Linux RED HAT 7.1 on a LC 2000, with Netraid 1M, the problem came with the driver, at startup, you see that the system starts the SCSI driver and the megaraid driver after the scsi driver, that's the problem, when you have finished to install Linux, the system halts.
The only way to resolve the problem is to download the driver for the Netraid 1M from the HP site, and installing linux with this command : linux dd, after that the system will call you to insert a disk diver, install the second disk driver you created just before and you'll see that the megaraid driver starts first and the scsi drive starts second. Install Linux and when you finished you'll see that the systems boots without problems.
This is the solution, i try it many times and it works.
Thank's to ALL
ROBERT
