NETRAID D4943-60002

Hi,
I have aquired 3 of these raid controllers. I am having problems bringing any of them up. As a matter of fact I can't even use the CTRL-M option as startup. Question: Must these controllers be installed in an HP Netserver to work, or will they work on any intel based box. I'm using compaq 500 EP's. Also when the pc does come up seeing the controller, all it does is flash "Firmware Initializing" Also, what type scsi drive does this thing support? Thanks for all the help in advance.

Re: NETRAID D4943-60002

You should check out the Compaq 500 EP users guide for information on setting the correct SCSI ID.

I've used other scsi controllers in this same box with no problems.

a. Should be not problem placing the boards in an "other then HP" system.

b. Check you system BIOS for SCSI support and interrupts with Firmware does not respond.

c. The boards firmware was particular about the drives it would "allow" on it's bus.

Re: NETRAID D4943-60002

hi,

"Firmware Initializing" usualy occur when scsi command is sent to hdd in order to check the Inquiry string, and one of these hdd is not responding "ready" some time because he couldn't spin up.
So disconnect scsi cable from Controller and check if you can gain acces to the CTRL-M utility.
