Netserver 5/166 LS4

OK, Next dumb question...
What OS should I install?
Ive tried W2K advanced server,
But I keep getting a disk read error. Does this server require a spcific OS?

Re: Netserver 5/166 LS4

Take a look at http://netserver.hp.com/support/nos_matrix/retiredkmatrx.asp for a list of supported and unsupported OS'es on the netserver LS series.
W2K in NOT supported (NT4 is).

Re: Netserver 5/166 LS4

Thanks for the info....
Befor I read your post, I was able to install Dos 6.22 without a problem untill I ran Memmaker, the all Heck broke loose. I then installed NT 3.5 successfully, Now that I know that NT 4 is supported, I will try that next. Shame that Win2K will not work

Thanks again.

Re: Netserver 5/166 LS4

Don't forget to download the driver diskette from: http://www.hp.com/cposupport/servers/software/lsdrvnt40.exe.html and the installation guide from: http://netserver.hp.com/docs/download.asp?file=it_nt_0601.pdf
The LS4 is more then 5 years old! NO wonder that W2K is not supported...

Win2k server will install with no problems if you swapout the RAID card i am using an Adaptec 78xx card in it and it works like a charm... let me know if you run in to any problems

Or you can remove the Raid Controller card.

BTW My system has Raid controller removed and
I have installed on the SCSI chain.
