Netserver E60 harddisk

Hi,

I have the following question:

I have a netserver E60 with a 9 GB SCSI-harddrive.
Now I want to upgrade the system with a mirror-drive.
The smallest drive I can get is a 36 GB 68-pin-drive.
Is the E60 capable of recognizing and handling this drive?

Thanks for answers.

Re: Netserver E60 harddisk

Stefan,

FYI, last year we upgraded, by adding an additional hard drive a Fujitsu MAH3182MP (18.2 GB) and needed to upgrade again this year and recently got a Fujitsu MAP3735NP (73.5GB) hard drive. Both hard drives installed without a problem (just remember to change the SCSI id & terminator jumpers on the drive), and Windows 2000 server easily recognized/formated the new drives.

Re: Netserver E60 harddisk

Hi Doug,

thank you for answering.
Just one question: Have you upgraded the BIOS of the E60 before installing the hdd?
I would like to change so less as possible (never change a running system ;-).

Thank you

Re: Netserver E60 harddisk

Stefan,
Interesting that hte smallest disk you can find, locally I am guessing, is 36GB. 18GB and some 9GB are still being produced, though the price and the disk are the same in the 18 and 9.
But as for installation you should be fine. No need for BIOS upgrades, the SCSI controller is independent of the system BIOS and has no limitaions of support for SCSI drive size.
