NetServer E60 - NT4 Workstation will not install

The NT setup wil not see the on-board Adaptec 7895H. I have downloaded from HP site correct drivers. I have updated E60 BIOS to latest. I have downloaded and run diags (OK). The machine has been running Novell OK for 2 yrs. Have tried alternate Adaptec drivers from www site and also L440GX+ driver set. I have downloaded and tried (Gateway) Adaptec drivers for use with FX LX GX chips. I have manually changed IRQ settings. Help appreciated.

Are you using the AHA2940/AIC78XX drivers?

Where does it fail.. If you are trying to boot from the CD, try using the workstation floppy's.. (S) pecify OEM drivers for the internal Adaptec controllers using the Drivers created from the Netserver Navigator disk library. Does this have a netraid controller installed ?

I have tried the same thing ( NT 4 Server, NT4 Terminal Server and W2K Server).

I have tried (W2K) with:

1. Boot from Navigator CD and used the automated install. Does not properly copy the files.

2. Boot from W2K CD. Locks up on starting Windows 2000.

3. Create Fat16 part, boot from DOS and install from CD. Sames as 2. Just takes longer.

The system will install SCO 5.06, but no version of Win NT.

You probably need to specify additional drivers during setup using the F6 key.

Flash with the newest bios. That fixed it for me. All versions of Windows now install.

Nt4 workstation isn't supported on any netserver!
You have to install Nt 4_0 Server.
see compatibility tab on hp site.

Boot from navigator CD and create the driver disk for your scsi controller.
boot from Win NT 4 Setup disks and install 3. party drivers for your scsi device. only then you can setup windows NT4 though it is not supported.

It would be nice to install NT4.0 server with the HP netserver drivers NT 4.0 for E60 that you can find at: http://www.hp.com/cposupport/servers/software/e60drvnt40.exe.html.

To Install do not boot with the NT 4.0 server CD ROM, boot with the first of the 3 NT installation floppy. When you get the boot line from the floppy on the display strike function F7 (disable ACPI fctions).
