Netserver Hardware Configuration
Hello,
I would like to know what HP utility software I should use in order to know what exactly my Netserver has in terms of Processors, memory, processor speed etc. Also what utility will provide me with the information needed in order to check and inform me if something fails on the server or if something is not right.
Best regards
Vivek

Re: Netserver Hardware Configuration
Hi,
Your best bet is to download Instant Top Tools from HP.com. It will give you all the configuration information on your server.
As for being informed about failures, Top Tools would have been a good option, but it is no longer available. A new program called Insight Manager SP1 is supposed to be backwards compatible with Netservers and will give you the functionality you require.
Hope this helps,
Mark

Re: Netserver Hardware Configuration
Hi Vivek
here is a location where you can create 2 diagnostic diskettes which will generate a Support Ticket which shows everything inside your netserver
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?locale=en_US&taskId=125&prodSeriesId=50450&prodTypeId=15351&objectID=lpn13891
I have used these diskettes and the report is very detailed

Re: Netserver Hardware Configuration
Hi,
Melvin is most certainly right. However, if you use Instant Top Tools, you can install it without rebooting the server. also, it can be used from within the OS and does not require you to boot to a floppy for use.
Both are great tools in their own rights.
