Netserver LC2000 Raid Setup

I have just bought a Netserver LC 2000 Tower, It didn't have any setup CD's etc, I have 2 x 9.1GB ScSi disks which I want to setup as Raid 1 mirror before I install the OS. What utility is there I can download, I see lots of NETRAID downloads. With my compaq servers I just config the array with smartstart. Can anyone help. NEiLG

Lc2000 didn't have netraid card integrated, so you can not setup raid configuration, unless you add a raid card to your server.

Re: Netserver LC2000 Raid Setup

Hi Neil,

the equivalent of the SmartStart cd is the Netserver Navigator cd which can do assisted OS installations and create diskette's for OS drivers, F/W, BIOS , utilities etc etc.

You don't absolutely need this since all drivers and utilities can be pulled from the web and you can perform a manual installation by booting from i.e. Windows 2000 cd's.

As Zhou indicated, by default the LC2000 has no raid card so pls check your config to see if this one happens to have one added or not, if not you can only do S/W raid by the OS which is less desirable and not what you're looking for.

Look at the server POST and check for a message string that indicates 'Netraid' somewhere, this is the productname for the Netserver RAID cards. If it's their then you're lucky and can build a RAID1. You have to press CTRL M and go in to the ROM based utility called 'Express Tools' to setup the raid, all info is displayed on the screen and should be straight forward to build a RAID1.

Here are the drivers for the LC2000 :

To run the Netraid Assistant utility to configure the RAID card via a GUI and not in the ROM based utility, you either need a Navigator cd or download the MS DOS version of the utility which is also available at the above URL.

Supported raid cards with one channel for the LC2000 are i.e. Netraid-1, Netraid 1Si and Netraid 1M.
