Re: Netserver LH Plus HELP!

Hi Jon,

Do you know if your harddrives are controlled by a PCI Raid controller or are they connected to the onboard SCSI controller?

You should see it during POST.

They are connected to the scsi controller.

Re: Netserver LH Plus HELP!

Please put more information as to the situation so we can help.
We know this so far:
LH +
2+ SCSI drives connected to the onboard Adaptec Controller.
No RAID
1 drive "went bad"
"System doesn't see it"
Define "went bad"
describe "System doesn't see it".
Where did the replacement drive come from?

Re: Netserver LH Plus HELP!

Sorry its a an LH + in which one of the scsi drives went bad, a seagate barracuda st34572wc. The drive doesnt spin anymore. The drive i have to replace it is a seagate cheetah st39103lc. This drive isnt recognized by bios and i have tried other drives and none of them are recognized. I am sure how to format the drive so that the system will recognize it, and i do not have the netserver cd. There are no ide drives installed, these are all scsi drives off of both controllers. I have switched drives to make sure that the drive array was working.

Thanks!

Re: Netserver LH Plus HELP!

So you had an old 4GB and replaced it with a newer 9GB.
I guess from you description , the drives in question are in the Hot Swap bay, and you spimple replaced the drive in the carrier/tray?

You boot the machine and when the SCSI BIOS load and scans the bus for devices, this new drive is left out. I assume the drives that were there before are found by the BIOS scan, yes? because you did say that you "switched drives to make sure that the drive array was working" which I assume means that you pulled a drive that was recognized by the BIOS and put it in another slot of the hot swap bay?

You say you "tried other drives", but you did not say what those are. Simply switching the drive in the carrier again? Same type of 9GB?

You can not format anything until the SCSI BIOS can scan and find the device. My simple explaination would be that the drives you are using are not the correct interface for the older controller.
