Netserver LH3 upgrade
We currently have one PII 400 Mhz processor and a terminator installed in our LH3. We are considering installing two PIII 550Mhz processors.
It's my understanding that the OS has to be reinstalled if two processors are installed in an Windows2000 server with only one current processor, is this true?
Can a single PII400Mhz processor be replaced with a P111550 in this server without replacing the OS and do the BIOS automatically recognize this new processor or does it have to be manually set in the BIOS setup?

Re: Netserver LH3 upgrade
Good Morning,
We have just replaced our single PIII/400 with two PIII/550's. The BIOS sees both CPU's. I'm currently awaiting an answer about the O.S. I'm thinking that it's dependant on the version of the OS that was originally installed.

Re: Netserver LH3 upgrade
Hi,
I didn't recall that this question was still open. I had asked about this in a couple of places. We ultimately did upgrade both of out LH3's to twin 550Mhz processors.
The change is the OS is very easy to do, whether it is Windows NT, 2000 or 2003.
Go to my Computer/properties/hardware/device manager/computer/ processor / driver
Update driver to the multi-processor.
I actually did that first and then during the restart replaced and added the 550MHZ processors but since you already have them in place it just a matter of letiing the OS find and use them.
Assume you did put in the additional VRM.
Regards,
Bill
