Netserver LX Pro Hangs...

I was given an LX Pro 6/200 (i think) from work and I can't get it to boot. The drive cages startup and there are three beeps when i power it up. But there is no video to the monitor (although it seems like it has sync) and it's LCD show one line w/ all black.

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried CMOS clear. And that had no effect.

(Could it be a bad system board?)

From 3 beeps error, I think it is first 64K memory test failure, maybe you should check and replace SIMMs inside your lx pro.

Re: Netserver LX Pro Hangs...

hi
himem is right, here is the list of beep code for lx

1 Refresh failure Replace the system board
2 Parity cannot be reset Replace the system board
3 First 64K memory failure Check and replace SIMMs
4 Timer not operational Replace the system board
5 Processor failure Replace processor board
6 8042 gate A20 is off (v-mode) Replace the system board
7 Exception interrupt error Replace the system board
8 Display memory read/write error Video problem: replace system board for on-board video OR replace installed video board.
9 ROM checksum error Reflash ROM; replace system board
10 Shutdown register read/write error Replace the system board

take in mind that the simm need to folow somes rules, the first is that you need to ad thed memory, four at a time.

I've tried replacing the simms w/ ones from a working system. Could it be the memory board?

Make sure nothing's plugged into it (like network cables). Mine wouldn't boot unless I did that!

Re: Netserver LX Pro Hangs...

hi

I also faced the same problem.

I tried changing the memory board. Finally we changed the system board and it started working

Now it's booting like a horse.Check whether all the jumpers in the correct position.u can see it visually here.

Re: Netserver LX Pro Hangs...

One thing we have found with hte LX Pro is that if you have an up to date keyboard plugged in, ie one with a windows key on it, it will not boot at all!!

Try it with an old keyboard, with no windows key,

Re: Netserver LX Pro Hangs...

I have a LX Pro that was donated to us. It will not boot. I have changed the system board and the memory board. I used a older keyboard without the Win95 key. I have started it with CMOS clear and it will beep 3 times. When we first got it it booted once after I reseated the boards. After that it quit booting at all. I have reseated and visual inspected the boards and could see no problems. I verified the system board switch and jumper settings. I tried it with the NIC and NetRaid removed. No video comes up so it doesn't get far enough into the boot to give me any clues on failure. The management board has a flashing green led. Front panel is green leds. It should be noted that one system board would generate 3 beeps (even with CMOS clear off) which indicated memory. I replaced memory and had same problem. Then replaced memory board and still same problem. We are a non-profit homeless shelter so spending more money on parts is not a good option. Is there anything else I should try before giving up?
