Surestore T20 tapeunit problem.

I have a netserver E60 with a Surestore T20i with Linux Red Hat 7.3 running.
I have this system already a few years but until now I haven't been able to get the T20 running.

When I insert a tape, it spools and the general status bit (with mt status) go from "DR_OPEN" and "IM_REP_EN" to only "IM_REP_OPEN" so the unit sees that there is a tape inside.
When I try to write something to it or when I use 'mt tell' I will get the error "mt: The device is offline (not powered on, no tape ?)"

What is wrong here....Please help.

Re: Surestore T20 tapeunit problem.

1. Is the T20 on its own SCSI channel?

2. Verify you can see the tape drive from Ctrl-A (Adaptec utilities) during POST - I assume so since it you are asking the tape drive ok.

Re: Surestore T20 tapeunit problem.

I can see the tapeunit in it's bios correctly. It is configured as asyn device.

The tapeunit is on the first chanel together with 2 disks.
