*TC2110 And controller Problems*
Dear Mates, i need urgently your assistance to solve this issue.
The customer owns a netserver TC2120, he has an Adaptec SCSI 29160 and a 2100s SCSI Array.
He does not have a RAID setup up, works with their units stand alone.
The main problem is that this server takes the HIGHEST ID to boot when we put this boot ordering ( FDD-CD ROM- IDE -SCSI ).
We´ve made this tests:
* Firmware update from the scsi card and server bios. The 2100s only has the hard disks connected and the 29160 a backup unit.
The used ordering boot is the following:
1 ) FDD
2) SCSI Controller
3) CD rom ide
4) IDE Devices unavailable
5) Another devices unavailable.
According to the scsi card manuals can work properly without a RAID. This issue appears working in windows 2000 like also in Linux.
*-This features are setup at the bios:
* Bus PCI 1 (High Priority)..: ADAPTEC 2100S (RAID) with 2 HD 36.4GB with IDs 0 y 1 respectively.
* Bus PCI 4 (Normal Priority): ADAPTEC 29160i (provisorily without connecting any device on it).
· We´ve tested the 2100s in a Netserver LC3 with 3 HDD HS on the scsi ID 0, 1 and 3. This server boots without no problem from the lower ID.
The boot orden had been alterated but this server allways boots from the HDs that have the OS with no problem at all.
· * Then clean and upgrade from bios (6.00.23rv), clean and upgrade from SCSI Card (fmw 370f, bios 13w, SMOR 52).
We´ve also put this scsi card on every empty slot, but the same issue show up.
All kind of variants at boot have been setted
The only valid configuration so this problem can be solved is :1-FLOPPY 2-SCSI 3-CD-ROM 4-HDD 5-NET .
With other configuration the problem persist because the TC 2110 does not boot from the scsi ID 0.
· Also we tried to create a new logical unit separately but the SCSI 2100S only gives the option to build a raid â 0â â 1â â 5â , and not to build logic units stand alone (doesn´t work as the smart array)
· We´ve put another SCSI 2100S and the same error appears.
· We´ve change the boot ordering to floopy/2100S /CDrom/ and with this config the server boots from thel HD SCSI with ID 0.
I´ve read at adaptec´s site and seems to be a problem bettwen 2100s and asus mothers from TC2110.
Do you have any recomendation to give us until a new systemboard to be replacable arrives?
Thank you so much in advance a
