Unexpected shutdown

the problem was 'memory'. we are having the same problem. how did you detect that it was the memory? the link in this thread to a document that could give a solution is no more valid. you know where to find it?

Re: Unexpected shutdown

Paul,

Install Instant Top Tools version 5.55.
You can download it from here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?taskID=135&pnameOID=19399&prodTypeId=15351&locale=en_US〈=English&prodSeriesId=50440&swEnvOID=226

Once you have it installed (Assuming you are running MS) then launch the application and check your hardware event log. Its been over a year so I don't remember which tab to check under, but you'll find the HEL or Hardware Event Log there. Check for single or multi-bit errors in the log. Also on the system page there should be a green, red or amber LED next to any populated Dimm slots.

Was this on an LC2000? How much memory is installed? If one of the dimms isn't HP, pull it and see if that resolves the issue as non-HP memory I saw cause a lot of those types of errors.

Ciao,
Greg
