there are two BIOS files:
4.06.04 RM (Netserver LC 2000 u3) and
4.06.30 PV (Netserver LC 2000)
How can I tell which to use? The u3 BIOS should give me a faster system, but what are the requirements to use it? If there where no problems, I don't understand why HP has the other BIOS there, it just makes confussion.

Re: Which BIOS for NetServer LC2000?
I believe tbe U3 models have 'U3' written at the front but I may be wrong.
What's the product number of your server ? It's on the label with the serial number.
Maybe we can locate that info somewhere on the HP web site.

Re: Which BIOS for NetServer LC2000?
1) The product number/model number of the server. The last part ends with and A like P1864A is a ultra 2 and so for a ultra 3 the model number would end in a B such as P1864B
2)On the boot up. The first thing you will normally see is the phoenix bios in POST. If its higher than 4.06.04, then you have a U2 mother board.
The U3 bios will not give you a faster system unless you have a U3 mother board.
The other bios is for Ultra 2 models. Over time the revisioned the product to have an ultra 3 motherboard during the life cycle of the server. There are still many LC2000 servers with an ultra 2 mother board.
