WinNT & NetIQ
Maybe I'm on the wrong forum :-)
I was searching for NetIQ help...
We are monitoring our NT systems and we'll getting messages like:
"Physical drive 5.3 has a predictive failure errror and should be replaced."
We cheched our Hardware configuration but there's nothing wrong with it.
Could somebody help me???
Thanks in advance

Re: WinNT & NetIQ
We installed a new server and we 'll getting the same message. We even replaced the harddrive and tried with another one. Probabely it is a configuration issue. But I don't know witch config issue it is :-)
Thanks for your adequete reaction

Re: WinNT & NetIQ
Could you provide the type of server you are referring to? Also, could you include your configuration, such as type of controller, how is it cabled to the hard drives and are the hard drives hot swap or common tray?
For standard troubleshooting please check for SCSI cable for proper connection, bent pins and damage. Make sure that the Controllers firmware and hard drive firmware is up to date.
Also, you can install Instant TopTools and run the Drive Self Test (DST). You can find the DST under Mass Storage, select the drive and you should have two choices, a Long and a Short Test. Select the Long test because it is more accurate.
Since, I am not sure what server you are referring to. If the error is referring to the hotswap drive that is in a server simular to a LH3000 (for example), it could be your SA-TE processor on the hot swap backplane that is causing your problem.
If I'm guessing correctly, you may want to go into SCSI utility and check the scsi id the processor and see if it matches the SCSI id of the predictive failure.
good luck!
