NAS 2000s freezing up

We have a NAS 2000s used as just a file server. I have installed the latest SR 5.5 but about every 14 days the machine locks up and stops serving files. The only way to fix the issue push the power button.

I would open up a support call on this. Sounds like you may have a hardware issue if you have all of your patching/firmware uptodate.

Re: NAS 2000s freezing up

Jason,

I've seen that issue caused by the setUID/GID.. apply this update which doesn't require a reboot.

Re: NAS 2000s freezing up

I opened a support case. I updated the bios and firmware on the disk array and replaced two disk drives were showing errors from array diag. So far so good but my machine usually took 2 weeks to lock up.

Re: NAS 2000s freezing up

Hi Jason, I belong to IBM Global Services and Im experiencing same problem on two NAS2000S from one of our customers. I believe Veritas Storage Central 5.2 is causing a mem/cpu leak under stressing conditions like backups are run. Do you have this product installed in your case ?
SP2+hotfixs are available from Veritas recognizing the problem. I will give it a try and see what it happens. I´m also setting up monitoring to see if I can catch some service causing mem/cpu overconsumption

Re: NAS 2000s freezing up

I do have Veritas NetBackup client 5.1 installed on my NAS 2000s. I have 3.2T of storage space and I am using 2T of space. I ended up separating my backups to do a one chuck at a time, about 800G each chuck. Since doing that and upgrading the firmware I have not had any issues with my NAS2000s.
