NIC Speed

I have about 4 or 5 network cards that are gigabit - NC3134 and NC3136. We want to hard wire our Cisco core and the servers. When I go to properties of these cards, the setting is "auto/auto." The problem is, it's grayed out and I can't change it to 1000/full. Can these cards not be configured manually? They are currently being used on Proliant DL580s and running Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Server. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

in general, gigabit cards reqiure autodetect to function above 100.

Thank you for your replies. I have to apologize because I put down the wrong NIC card models. They are NC6134 and NC6136.

I checked the connection on our Cisco core and it's set for 1000/full. Would this mismatch cause any heartbeat issues?

We keep everything pretty much current. I checked the drivers and they are the latest version - 7.2.18.0
