Wake up on Lan

Hi,

Can anybody tell me if there is an easy way to send a Wake Up On Lan signal to a pc?

Do I need to buy software to do this?

Thanks,

John.

Re: Wake up on Lan

You do need software but you might be able to get it for free. See:
http://www.stealthonline.com/index.asp?content=downloads&file=Server%20Tools

and possibly
http://download.com.com/3000-2094-7942964.html?tag=lst-0-25

There are other programs at www.shareware.com but most of them want you to pay something after an initial trial.

Remember for it to work you need a PC which supports it, it has to be turned on in BIOS and the NIC has to support it too. There are probably a few options required in your operating system too. Also it is best to have both ends of the Ethernet connection set to 100FD.

John, You could also download a copy of Toptools 5.6. Toptools has the wake-up capability for discovered nodes that support this feature. Go to www.hp.com/toptools. Select Legacy Support, then Download Drivers and Software.
