about mail

when i give "mail" in the prompt this is the error i am getting:

root #mail
Warning: Too many letters, overflowing letters concatenated

after little time, screen starts flows continuously.

1.)how to check the last mail msg came?
2.)what other basic options are useful with mail command? like how to find out the mails that came in last one day? how to delete the last msg? ..etc..

thanks,

Re: about mail

Try using "elm" it has a friendlier interface and you can go in there an clear it all out. At the prompt, type

# elm

It will ask a couple of questions if this is your first time setting it up, type "yes" for both questions and you should get in.

Hi,
for an explanation of your warning please see:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=208965

You can use mailx as a front-end to your mail.
Just type "mailx"
It will show you how many mails you have, sorted by date.
For the commands available with mailx, please see the latter part of "man mailx"
