I need to upgrade our current version of the C compiler. As far as I found out, this can be done in 2 ways. I preferred the install of a patch, but because this did not work, I tried to install an evaluation version (also without any luck).
The current version is:
# what /usr/ccs/bin/cc
/usr/ccs/bin/cc:
HP aC++/C for Itanium(R)-based systems B3910B A.05.50 [May 15 2003]
and it needs to be at least A.05.52. This could be fixed by installing 2 patches (PHSS_29655 and PHSS_29657), but both give dependancy problems. I tried to sort them out, but cannot find anything usefull.
How can I solve this?
Please find below the swinstall logs.

Re: aC++ upgrade problem
Problem appears to be that you should probably first install the 'base fileset'.
NOTE: The patch fileset PHSS_29657.LANG-AUX,r=1.0" may only be installed upon a previously installed base fileset.
So it seems that you have a mismatch with your currently installed compiler and the patches you're trying to install.
For dependency checks, just go to the patch_database and enter the two patches. The tool there should give you all dependencies.
Cheers,
Jan.

Solutionwhat /usr/ccs/bin/cc
This is your problem. You are looking at the bundled C compiler. You must first install the ISU compiler, /opt/ansic/bin/cc, then you can patch it. Also, you are installing patches for C++, /opt/aCC/bin/aCC, not the C compiler.
Note A.05.52 is not supported and the latest compiler is A.06.13.
I'm not sure why you are getting the follwoing error:
ERROR: Could not access remote file "/opt/aCC/bin/aCC"

Re: aC++ upgrade problem
A reboot of the server fixed the problem. Thanks for the help!
