Access to command mode

Hello,

I am trying to access the command mode from our console, but the CTRL-B does not work. Is this something that needs to be enabled upon initial installation to function? I recently built this box about a month ago.

Thanks,

Re: Access to command mode

Hi Don,

try to reset the console once with

- turn console off
- press key 'd'
- turn console back on
- release 'd'

and then try the ctrl b again

What type of machine is this? On some machines the key has to be turned to service mode for this work.

Re: Access to command mode

Hi Don:

On K-servers, it's a key that needs to be turned to 'service' mode. On D-servers there's a small slide switch on the back of the processor to disable/enable the access.

Re: Access to command mode

This box is an R390. Since it is basically a D class on its side, I checked for the access switch at the back of the processor, but its not there. I checked the riser cards and the main board, too. Is there anywhere else it could be?

Steffi - Resetting the console with the d option didn't work.

Thank you everyone for your assistance.

Re: Access to command mode

The R-class as well as the D-class need the option service control processor installed. If it was not ordered with the system, CTRL-B will do nothing.
