Adding a Plotter to HP Work Station

I have to add a Network Plotter to an HP C3700 Workstation. The Operating System is HP-UX 11.0.

The Plotter is HP Designjet 4500 and it is configured with an I.P..

What do I need to do to add the Plotter ?

Would appreciate your guidance.

Re: Adding a Plotter to HP Work Station

To add a networkprinter (plotter) you need "hp print installer software", this can be downloaded here:

To add the plotter call SAM, Printer&Plotter, add network printer. You find a lot of helpfull informations on this page also. Please have a look at "technical support" at the page I posted.

Re: Adding a Plotter to HP Work Station

I would use hppi, which you can get info about downloading from:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x96625c7609e9d61190050090279cd0f9,00.html

Then use swinstall to install it.

Add the IPaddress and hostname to /etc/hosts

Then run hppi, I believe the options you need are:
1 Spooler Admin
1 Add printer to local spooler
Tell it the hostname
Then I've got DesignJet 3500 listed as 35, I guess you might be able to get a more recent model script (which hppi will offer to do)
The rest is fairly straightforward.

I'm assuming a fair amount of HPUX knowledge I guess.

Well see how you go, I hope this is a bit helpful.
