Adding a user for just ftp access

Hi,
I need to add a user for just ftp access. He should be able to edit the files in his home dir.
I'd appreciate your suggestions in this regard.

Re: Adding a user for just ftp access

You may create an account, and insert /bin/false as the shell for the account. This will allow the user to access FTP but nothing else. If /etc/shells doesn't exist, you will need to create it and add into any of the shells that use ftp, including /bin/false.

Hi there.
Edit his .profile and attach an exit or logout to the end of this file. If he tries to logon to a shell, he will be kicked out immediately.
