Adding network printer in other network
On a HPUX 10.2 machine, I am trying to add a network printer in a different network. My belief was all I needed was an IP address, but in going through JetDirect, it complains about being able to find a GET community name. Does this make sense?
I can add a network printer in my subnet with no issues, but I am having trouble with the other subnet.
Is this an HPUX issue or something on the printer?
Thanks everyone.

Re: Adding network printer in other network
bootp daemon does not pass through routers. So suggest following to configure Network printer in different network:
1. Set IP , gateway etc on the printer either manually or through Jetadmin utility in the network where the printer is located.
2. From hp-ux server, ping to printer. Once this is OK , just add a new printer queue with its IP address and name
Regards
Mahesh

Re: Adding network printer in other network
Note that if you can't ping printer problem is on network layer.
