Re: ADOBE 7 Reader Problems
You need to export SHLIB_PATH to point to GTK:
export SHLIB_PATH=/opt/gtk2.6/lib
>should the libgdk install also have been the PA-RISC version?
Naturally.
>so i don't need to install firefox to get adobe to work?
Quite the opposite, you can't have both installed. (Unless you install the PA firefox?)

Re: ADOBE 7 Reader Problems
set the shlib_path=/opt/gtk2.6/lib...
removed firefox also..( the directory structure still exists but the /opt/firefox/bin directory is empty)..
still missing the libgdk_pixbuf_xlib-2.0.sl
(searched entire system and the file ain't there)
i've got the pa risc version of gdk/gtk/ ??

I guess I forgot to mention that you have to force install ALL of the filesets. Did you have any warnings about this in swinstall?
It seems you have started a new thread:

Re: ADOBE 7 Reader Problems
before i get lost in all of this, it was my understanding that the only way to get adobe reader to work on an itanium system was to install the required binaries from the pa risc downloads.. is this correct ?
I created the other thread, which i have abandoned, becuase when doing the research i found more than a few references to the missing file and i thought creating a seperate thread might catch someones eye that experienced the problem and found a solution. I was amazed that when looking at all the other threads, not one of them identified a solution. Hope we have better luck ..
I reloaded both the gtk depot and the gdk depot using the 'allow incompatible' option, and a miracle happened the acrobat reader loaded, and i was able to see a pdf. I did get an error trying to load the plugin PPKLite.api but it didn't see to inhibit the reader from loading in.
Could i have done this with the itanium binaries ?

Re: ADOBE 7 Reader Problems
(Warning after you used that -x, or before?)
I guess if you use the GUI you will be shielded from the warning you get if you use \* to install everything.
>the only way to get adobe reader to work on an Integrity system was to install the required binaries from the PA-RISC downloads. is this correct?
Yes. Unless you mount the whole thing over NFS and go down that rat hole.
>i thought creating a separate thread might catch someones eye that experienced the problem and found a solution. I was amazed that when looking at all the other threads, not one of them identified a solution.
Didn't I mention I had exactly the same problems and I finally got it to work? :-)
Of course it is either that works or firefox.
>I did get an error trying to load the plugin PPKLite.api
Yes, same here. I didn't look too hard at it.
Could I have done this with the Integrity binaries?
No, Adobe doesn't provide those and you can't mix PA load modules with IPF

Re: ADOBE 7 Reader Problems
Well, when I first tried it a few months ago, I gave up when it wanted more downloads. So that thread that pointed to HP's GTK was helpful to get me restarted.
